• Inaugurated in 1974, the Indonesia Open is the longest-running golf tournament in the country. 
• Some of golf's biggest names have won the Indonesia Open. The list includes the late Payne Stewart, major champion Padraig Harrington and three-time Asian Tour Order of Merit champion Thongchai Jaidee.
• The tournament received a title sponsorship from Bank BRI as well as a prize money boost from US$300,000 to US$500,000 last week.
• The co-sponsors of the tournament are PLN, PERTAMINA, TELKOM Indonesia, Batik Air, WIKA, BRILife, BRIAgro, BRISyariah and BRINS. 
• The champion of the Bank BRI Indonesia Open 2018 will earn a prize cheque of US$90,000 and a two-year winner’s exemption on the Asian Tour.
• The Pondok Indah Golf Course will be hosting the tournament for the third consecutive year.
• The 150-man field will be made up of 93 Asian Tour Professionals, 20 local professionals, 10 regional PGA professionals, 17 invited professional and 10 amateurs.
• The highest-ranked player on the Asian Tour Habitat for Humanity Standings in the field is Sihwan Kim from the United States. He is currently in seventh place on the list and he will be chasing his first win on the Asian Tour in Jakarta.
• Thailand’s Panuphol Pittarayat will be defending his title. The golfer, also known as “Coconut”, posted a five-shot victory in 2017. He won his second Asian Tour title at his National Open last month.
• India’s Gaganjeet Bhullar is chasing for a hat-trick of wins at the Indonesia Open. He was victorious in 2013 and 2016. Bhullar has two second-place finishes in his last five starts on the Asian Tour.
• John Catlin of the United States, who is enjoying a rich vein of form, will be a strong contender at the tournament. The 2018 Asia-Pacific Classic champion won for the second time this year in Sarawak last week.
• Spearheading the local challenge are Danny Masrin, George Gandranata, Danny Masrin, Rory Hie, and Benita Kasiadi, whose father, Kasiadi, is the only Indonesian player to win the National Open in 1989.
