[INSPECT THE SOUTHERN GOLF] Day 13: ESCHURI VUNG BAU GOLF - A New Addition to Phu Quoc’s Golf Tourism Landscape

Located along Vung Bau Beach in the northwest of Phu Quoc Island, Eschuri Vung Bau Golf offers a fresh option for golfers seeking a combination of golf and resort experiences.

Continuing their evaluation journey in Phu Quoc, the judging panel of the Vietnam Golf & Leisure Awards 2026 visited Eschuri Vung Bau Golf. One of the first impressions upon arrival was the sight of the caddie team in distinctive orange uniforms. Beyond being a visual highlight, the color also contributes to the course’s own identity and recognition.

Throughout the 18-hole round, the judging panel experienced a relatively new course with a clear garden-course character. Mature trees, native vegetation and the natural coastal terrain have been preserved and integrated into the layout, creating a seamless transition between the playing areas and the surrounding landscape.

Against this backdrop, the course gradually reveals two distinct environments. The front nine reflects the character of a lush tropical forest, where mature trees frame the fairways and create scenic views throughout the round. The winding fairways, combined with strategically placed bunkers and natural elevation changes, require players to consider not only distance but also shot placement and strategy on each hole.

The back nine introduces a more open setting, with the influence of the coastline becoming increasingly evident. Wider views, changing wind conditions and sandy areas positioned along the playing corridors bring a different set of challenges. Several points on the course offer views toward the sea, creating a noticeable contrast with the forest atmosphere of the opening holes.

Beyond the design, the judging panel also evaluated the course’s operational conditions at the time of inspection. The turf was maintained in good condition, while the greens delivered consistent speed and smoothness, supporting a reliable putting experience throughout the round. The preservation of natural landscape elements further helps establish a distinctive character for this emerging golf destination.

According to international judge Oh Sang Jun: “Eschuri Vung Bau Golf impressed me with its modern clubhouse architecture. The course also makes excellent use of mature trees to create memorable scenery throughout the round. In addition, further refinements in certain areas such as improving visual openness along cart paths and around water hazards, while adding more character to the opening holes would help enhance the overall experience.”

Following the round, the judging panel continued their evaluation at the clubhouse, one of the key components of the overall experience at Eschuri Vung Bau Golf. The building stands out with its contemporary architectural language and open design, featuring extensive glass elements that connect service areas with views of the golf course. Details inspired by traditional Vietnamese culture add a distinctive touch to the interior, while the restaurant, locker rooms and guest facilities are arranged conveniently for golfers.

The emergence of new golf venues such as Eschuri Vung Bau Golf reflects the increasingly diverse development of golf tourism in Phu Quoc. According to the judging panel, for the island to become a competitive golf destination in the region, continued investment in high-quality courses with their own unique identities will be essential in creating a more complete ecosystem for both domestic and international golfers.

Concluding the evaluation, the judging panel recognized a golf experience featuring a variety of landscapes from lush forest surroundings to coastal holes overlooking the sea. This transition between different environments creates a distinctive experience and adds another option to Phu Quoc’s growing golf tourism offering.

Let’s look back at the highlights from the judging panel’s visit to Eschuri Vung Bau Golf on July 21, 2026.
