Patrick Reed throws tee at Rory McIlroy in anger after alleged snub in Dubai

This week's Dubai Desert Classic became hotter than ever when Patrick Reed and Rory McIlroy had a tense situation right in the pratice round.

The world golf community as well as the websites are sharing clips of the tense situation between Patrick Reed and Rory McIlroy. According to the clip, on the Dubai Desert Classic practice course at the Emirates Club, it seems Patrick Reed approached the world number 1 golfer while he was working with coach Michael Bannon and caddy Harry Diamond.

Reed went over to say hello and shook Diamond's hand. Meanwhile Rory McIlroy was sitting crouched and not looking up. It's not really clear whether McIlroy didn't see Reed or intentionally didn't. Then Reed looked annoyed and walked away, thinking for a few seconds he turned around and threw a tee at Rory McIlroy, who was still bowing.

Previously, Patrick Reed and Rory McIlroy were said to have an untidy relationship. The source of the attack stems from the appearance of LIV Golf. McIlroy was a pioneer against the Saudi-backed golf system. Meanwhile, Patrick Reed was one of the first to quit the PGA Tour to join LIV Golf. This has made the relationship that was not hot to become "cold". It seems that Reed wanted to mend with McIlroy but failed.

Is Reed suing Rory? In fact, Patrick Reed needed his attorney, Larry Klayman, to sue everyone who sided with the PGA Tour. Story LIV Golf is using its own Tour transferees for an exclusive PGA TOUR event. With Rory McIlroy, the current leader of the PGA Tour certainly does not like Patrick Reed nor Klayman.

Rory McIlroy kicks off 2023 with the Dubai Desert Classic event. This is the second Rolex Series tournament of the year of DPWT where many stars, including golfers, have come to LIV Golf. Rory has been crowned this tournament twice, but both are times when the event does not count as a Rolex Series. And now Rory McIlroy is still looking for his debut Rolex Series title, something he missed for years now especially at the Dubai Desert Classic itself in 2022.
