VGA Tour opens membership registration for female golfers from 2023

This step is aimed at further professionalization and systematization in the women's golf arena, thereby improving the number and quality of female athletes participating in tournaments.

The VGA Tour was established by the Vietnam Golf Association, scheduled to launch in 2021 but then could not proceed as planned due to Covid-19. 2022 becomes the starting year of VGA Tour with 5 professional tournaments including: Lexus Challenge, National Championship - Vinfast Cup, DSE Vietnam Open, Nam A Bank Vietnam Masters and T99 VGA Tour Championship.

This is the first time in the history of professional golf that Vietnam has a women's group. Except for the T99 VGA Tour Championship, all other tournaments have a female group. This is also the first time that the number of female golfers participating in a professional tournament has surpassed 10. This shows that Vietnamese women's golf is growing and getting more attention.

Nguyen Thao My won the Lexus Challenge Golf Tournament 2022

In 2022, VGA Tour opened membership registration for male golfers and received many positive feedbacks. This model has been applied in most professional golf systems in the world with the goal of protecting the rights as well as bringing many benefits and rights to members.

After a very successful 2022 season, VGA Tour will officially open membership registration for female golfers in 2023. This step is towards professionalism and further systematization in the women's golf arena, thereby improving the number and quality of female athletes participating in tournaments.

The fact that the VGA Tour opens a tournament table for female golfers and admits female members is one of the premise to help develop professional women's golf in Vietnam.

The Women's Division of VGA Tour 2023 also recorded a record increase in the number of tournaments as well as in bonus funds with 7 events and 200 million VND each, compared to only 4 events and 100 million VND each in 2022. In particular, female golfers who are members of VGA Tour will have the opportunity to participate in the year-end finals of the T99 VGA Tour Championship and compete for a huge prize money for the champion.

In the 2022 season, Nguyen Thao My is the female golfer who earns the most prize money with more than 100 million VND. Golfer born in 1998 won the championship at Lexus Challenge, along with 2 times in the Top 2. The titles of DSE Vietnam Open and Nam A Bank - Vietnam Masters respectively belonged to two Korean golfers, Lina Kim and Park Si Eun Meanwhile, amateur golfer Doan Xuan Khue Minh won the National Championship at Vinpearl Golf Hai Phong.
