Collin Morikawa, Adam Scott register for Tiger Woods' TGL Golf League

TMRW Sports, a company led by Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy and businessman Mike McCarley, will operate the TGL sideline for the PGA Tour from January 2024.

It's still a year away from TGL's launch, but the news about its participants has already been revealed. This is considered a form of support for the PGA Tour to compete with LIV Golf.

As planned, each TGL tournament has 18 PGA Tour golfers divided equally into 6 teams competing for two hours at golden time every Monday night on a simulated field with real green surface. The schedule includes the usual 15 stages, two semi-finals and the final, in addition to the 47 tournaments in the general schedule of the PGA Tour. The competition space is designed like a stadium with a grandstand and is broadcast live.

Besides Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy committed to definitely participating in the competition, Jon Rahm and Justin Thomas were on the previous list, this past Monday another pair of golf stars was revealed, that is Collin Morikawa and Adam Scott.

“During my time playing amateur golf at university, I fell in love with team play. I'm really proud to have the opportunity to represent the US in the Ryder Cup and the Presidents Cup. I look forward to being a part of TGL next year,” Morikawa said.

Morikawa also added: “I think the way TGL operates is very interesting. It brings sports fans the world's best matches weekly in prime time and in just 2 hours. This special feature will attract more fans, especially younger fans.”

TMRW CEO Mike McCarley stated: “The caliber of champions like Collin Morikawa and Adam Scott is a guarantee of quality for TGL. That's what we're trying to give our fans, an elite, short-term tournament in prime time where world-class players compete against each other in a team format."

“TGL is a bright spot in the future of professional golf and I am committed to this tournament,” Woods previously said.
