Four-time Master Blender of the Year Stephanie Macleod visits Vietnam

Recognised four years running as Master Blender of the Year by the International Whisky Competition, Stephanie Macleod, the only person in the world to hold the title consecutively, will visit Vietnam to host a whisky masterclass and two invitation-only dinners in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

In addition to being awarded Master Blender of the Year four times, she is the first woman to hold the prestigious title in a field typically led by men. Celebrated and highly accomplished, Macleod paves the way for female whisky drinkers and shares her passion with the local drinks scene by bringing Aultmore to life through a series of Secret Spaces Dining experiences.

First distilled in 1897, Aultmore is recognised among industry experts as ‘Top Class’. A fragrant single malt and Speyside classic, the dram, once a closely-guarded, long-held secret, is perfect on its own but equally apt for mixing.

Whisky is a genderless art. It is layered and varied and resonates deeply with connoisseurs. I look forward to introducing Aultmore to a new cohort of enthusiasts who will lead the charge of discovery amongst Vietnam’s new generation of whisky lovers,” said Macleod ahead of her visit.

The masterclasses will be open to prestigious groups in the two cities, where Macleod will show guests how to drink and mix whisky for an exceptional experience. These masterclasses will also serve as a platform to discuss women in the world of whisky and the changing landscape of the drinks business.

As part of Aultmore’s Secret Spaces Dining experiences, the VIP dinners hosted by Macleod will be carefully curated fine dining experiences at Lavelle Library – a lifestyle boutique artistic restaurant in HCMC and Capella Hanoi Hotel – a luxurious elegant 5-star hotel by designer extraordinaire, Bill Bensley. Guests to the events will enjoy a range of Aultmore blends paired with exquisite multi-course meals, further showcasing the breadth and premium quality of the Scottish drink.

“The rule is, there are no rules. Drink it neat, with a dash of water, with several ice cubes, or with a soft drink,” Macleod shared. “That’s the beauty of these events, it’s an opportunity to showcase the versatility of one of the world’s best kept secrets.”

Uniquely designed dishes to make the culinary journey more special

Aultmore’s Secret Spaces Dining concept has seen great success worldwide; this is the second experience to be hosted in Vietnam since its debut in June with Aultmore’s Global Malts Ambassador, Matthew Cordiner. Each event is thoughtfully organised at a new secret venue, with a unique menu and a rotation of hosts. Previous destinations have included green fields, tropical forests, and the middle of the ocean, all in an attempt to provide guests with a deeper, more intimate understanding of the product, brand, and culture.

In July 2022, a select group of VIPs enjoyed a week-long visit to Scotland, enjoying foggy Speyside first-hand while learning more about the Aultmore brand and distilling process.

Whilst Macleod is in Vietnam for a short time with limited events, more happenings, particularly Secret Spaces Dining experiences, are being planned for Vietnamese whisky enthusiasts in the near future.

Additionally, Aultmore and Dewar’s, the worlds most awarded scotch whisky will soon launch a range of Tet gifts for the coming Lunar New Year. Ideal gifts for colleagues, friends, or family during the holiday season; those interested should keep an eye out for the gifts’ release.
