Winning the T99 VGA Tour Championship 2022, Joel Troy pocketed 500 million VND

The defending champion of DNSE Vietnam Open 2022 had an excellent performance at Thanh Lanh Stadium and was officially took the throne at T99 VGA Tour Championship 2022.

Winning the prestigious T99 VGA Tour Championship 2022, the Australian golfer brought home a prize of 500 million VND, bringing the total prize money of his season to 790 million VND.

“My emotions are very happy now. I will call my parents after the awards ceremony to share this joy. They're in Australia," the champion shared with VietnamGOLF Magazine.

The weather on Thanh Lanh field today is sunny, no wind, quite favorable for golfers to compete. Joel Troy got off to a good start on the final day of the competition with the advantage of the lead, 12 strokes ahead of second-placed golfer Truong Chi Quan of Vietnam.

In the first 14 holes Joel Troy got 5 bogeys on holes 3, 4, 8, 11 and 14 but only scored 1 birdie, bringing the total score down to -3 compared to -7 of yesterday. However, the Australian male golfer closed the last day of competition with 2 excellent birdies on holes 17 and 18 bringing the total score after 4 rounds to 283 strokes -5 and became the champion with a convincing victory, 11 strokes difference from the 2 runners-up.

The second runner-up of the T99 VGA Tour Championship 2022 is Korean golfer Brian Jung and Vietnam's Truong Chi Quan. Both ended up with a score of 294 (+6) strokes. In the final round, Brian Jung scored 3 birdies and got 2 bogeys, then became one of only 2 golfers to score a negative stroke in round 4, along with Park Sang Ho. Truong Chi Quan got 2 bogeys and scored 1 birdie for 73  (+1) strokes.

With only 1 point difference, Do Hong Giang and Park Sang Ho closely followed the second place with a total score of +7 points after 4 days of competition. Do Hong Giang scored even par while Park Sang Ho scored -1 with 3 birdies and 2 bogeys.

The three golfers who tied for 6th place were Kim Woo Jin, Park Jung Min and Dinh Song Hai, respectively. 9th and 10th places belong to athletes Doan Van Dinh and Nguyen Van Toan.

2022 seems to be a very lucky season for the Australian golfer. He achieved many consecutive successes at major tournaments under the VGA Tour system. T99 VGA Tour Championship 2022 is the second title in 2022 of the Australian golfer, after the championship title at DSE Vietnam Open 2022.

This is Joel Troy's the second title since he participating in professional tournaments organized by VGA Tour. It can be said with the achievements that Joel Troy is gradually asserting his name in the Vietnamese golf community.

Before coming to Vietnam to work as a golf coach, Joel Troy was an Australian PGA and a professional coach at many world famous golf clubs such as Whistler Golf Club in Canada and many academies in Chongqing and Guiyang in China.

The first season of the VGA Tour Championship is officially over. In 4 days of competition, 30 athletes brought the audience as well as the professional world with emotional sublimation and extremely attractive performances. The VGA Tour Championship will return in 2023 and promises to find more champions to contribute to the development of the country's sport in general and Golf in particular.
