Ian Cording: "It's going to be a boom time for golf in Vietnam!" 05:36, 11/10/2022

With over 13 years of experience in Vietnam’s golf industry, have you ever thought about spending the rest of your life living and working in Vietnam?   

I am fortunate enough to call Vietnam home now and have settled here with my wife Tra.  When I came over here in the late 2000’s, I wasn’t fully aware of the charms or the beauty of Vietnam and I certainly wasn’t aware of how booming the golfing market would be. I’ve been very lucky to be a small part in the development of golf in Vietnam and long may that continue and golf keep trending the way it is. 

What brought you to The Bluffs Grand Ho Tram Strip? Are you confident in setting the new benchmark for awards-winning The Bluffs? 

The Bluffs golf course is synonymous with high quality and luxury, not only in Vietnam but across the whole world. It was a difficult decision to leave my last posting but coming to a Top 100 golf course in the world, 2 world class resorts and gaming facilities was an opportunity I couldn’t turn down when the chance presented itself.  With the team on site I feel confident that we can keep pushing the standards set out before and build on the accolades the property has already won. 

Can you share with us your future strategy and intentions with The Bluffs? 

Mainly continuing to build on the foundations that have been laid out for me already and keep raising the benchmark for golf course conditioning and service. Other main strategies are to use technology to improve the efficiency and overall service across the property, utilizing data in an effective manner. 

What sets The Bluffs apart and what will need to be done to assure its position in the Vietnamese market in particular and in the world’s arena in general? 

The Bluffs is and will always, in my opinion, be recognized as the course that puts Vietnam on the world stage with the Ho Tram Open in 2015. Ensuring we uphold the standards and conditions on the course along with leveraging the unique offerings that The Grand Ho Tram has to offer means we will continuously be recognized domestically and internationally. 

This October, The Bluffs will be celebrating its 8th Anniversary. Will there be exciting events for Members and golf enthusiasts to look forward to? 

We will be hosting our flagship event of the year, The Bluffs Club Championships, on the 8^th and 9^th of October which will be an exciting event for our members and guests.  We will be having a lot of interesting events and skill prizes on these days and for the first time, a small course to be set up for our younger golfers so they can compete in a Junior Club Championships. At the same time, we did not forget to reward our public guests, who continuously supported us in the past years with our exclusive promotion “Unlimited Surprises”. Kindly share with us your outlook on the potential of Vietnam’s Golf Industry. 

As mentioned earlier, with the opening of numerous world class facilities across the country, the golfing market in Vietnam looks healthy and strong.  And it certainly is a positive outlook when the international market is said to resume with a bang in Q4.  

Training for Vietnamese allows them to gain international accreditation in their respective fields will not only be seen as a manpower investment but also a benefit for the operators and owners of facilities. I can only see the golfing market continuing to continue growing and going from strength to strength.
