7 young golfers representing Hanoi compete at the 2022 National Sports Festival

Within the framework of the National Sports Festival, golf will be played at Tuan Chau Course, Quang Ninh from December 13 to 16 with the participation of 11 teams representing 11 provinces across the country.

According to the announcement from the Vietnam Golf Association, at this year's tournament, each province/city/industry chooses 4 men and 3 women to compete individually and as a team. In singles, both men and women will have a stroke play over two rounds, while in the team event will be in a knockout match play format. In the individual contest, if there is a tie situation in the first place, the result will be closed with playoff.

The Hanoi golf team will compete with 10 other delegations representing: Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Bac Giang, Vinh Phuc, Lao Cai, Nghe An, and Ho Chi Minh City. Ho Chi Minh City, Long An, Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau. Particularly Long An, Lao Cai and Binh Duong only compete in individual and men's team cpntest.

Participating in this year's congress, Hanoi is considered a strong team with 7 typical young representatives. Nam has Tran Le Duy Nhat, Truong Chi Quan, Nguyen Anh Minh and Nguyen Quang Tri; 3 female golfers are Nguyen Thao My, Le Chuc An and Pham Thi Yen Vi.

In particular, Duy Nhat and Thao My have had experience in competing at the National Sports Festival 2018, playing on the King Course of BRG Kings Island Golf Resort in Dong Mo, Hanoi with 11 teams and a total of 72 athletes. Duy Nhat brought home the individual gold medal, Thao My won the women's singles gold medal. The two then helped the Hanoi team to win first place in both men's and women's teams.

There are four young talents Anh Minh, Quang Tri, Chuc An and Yen Vi, who have attended for the first time, but before that, they all achieved high results in national amateur tournaments, youth championships or VGA Tour tournaments.

Particularly, Anh Minh is the number one amateur in Vietnam, ranked 276th in the WAGR - the highest representative group in the country. Since the beginning of the year, this 15-year-old golfer has tried three times at the VGA Tour, including winning the Lexus Challenge Cup and the Vietnam National Championship, finishing fourth at the Vietnam Open. With his first victory, Anh Minh became the first and youngest amateur champion at a Vietnamese professional golf tournament.

HCMC is also highly appreciated with a eam that combines experience and youth, including Tang Nhon Phu, Nguyen Tuan Anh, Le Khanh Hung, Dang Quang Anh, Tran Lam (male); Nguyen Thi Ngoc Dung, Dang Diem, Mai Thi Thuy Vi (female). Khanh Hung, currently ranked 710, and is the Vietnamese golfer holding the second highest rank on the WAGR.
