SEA Games 31: A look at top seeds from Vietnam’s National Golf team

With seven out of nine athletes under the age of 18, the Vietnamese golf team participating at the 31st SEA Games is its youngest ever. However, these young faces have already seen success as Vietnam’s fans will soon find out.

Nguyen Anh Minh

Nguyen Anh Minh, a 15-year-old golfer, shows his maturity in every shot. With a competitive spirit, Anh Minh is always ready to confront pro-golfers and achieves impressive achievements at domestic golf tournaments.

Going to the qualifying round for the national golf team to attend the 31st SEA Games, Anh Minh continued to affirm his talent by leading the men's group twice

Talented, mentally stable, and steadfast, Nguyen Anh Minh is expected to make a big impression at the first Southeast Asian Games of his career.

Le Khanh Hung

Le Khanh Hung was acquainted with golf from an early age and quickly demonstrated his talent for golf. In 2020, at the age of 12, Khanh Hung won the Long Thanh Golf Championship, one of the biggest annual events of Long Thanh golf course.

Following the successes in movement golf tournaments, Le Khanh Hung affirmed his talent at the professional golf tournament. At the age of 14, he finished second in the Lexus Challenge 2022 - becoming the youngest golfer to win the runner-up position in a professional tournament.

Le Khanh Hung promises to bring a lot of surprises at the upcoming SEA Games.

Nguyen Bao Long

Nguyen Bao Long started playing golf when he was 10 and quickly proved his talent in national and international junior golf tournaments. 

Since 2018, Bao Long has been studying with Vietnam’s leading professional golfer - Tran Le Duy Nhat. In 2019, Bao Long decided to pursue a professional golf career. 

The experience of competing at the 30th SEA Games will be one of the factors for Bao Long to improve his performance at the upcoming SEA Games.

With many outstanding achievements in domestic golf tournaments, Nguyen Quang Tri is considered a prominent factor of the Hanoi Junior golf team.

After many years of learning and training, Quang Tri has shown remarkable growth through impressive achievements.

In the qualifying round to select members for the national golf team to attend the 31st SEA Games, Nguyen Quang Tri was not in the Top 3 athletes with the highest scores. However, in the two subsequent play-off matches, Quang Tri won first place in the group and became one of the last two male golfers named in the Vietnamese golf team competing at the 31st SEA Games.

Nguyen Dang Minh

Before Nguyen Anh Minh emerged as a Vietnamese golf phenomenon, another talented young golfer named Minh also made a strong impression on golf fans. That's Nguyen Dang Minh. Golfer born in 2005 is a familiar owner of many awards at domestic junior golf tournaments.

In the qualifying round to select the national golf team to attend the 31st SEA Games, Nguyen Dang Minh did not enter the Top 3. However, after 2 play-off matches, Dang Minh was officially named in the Vietnamese golf team competing at the 31st SEA Games.

Doan Xuan Khue Minh

SEA Games is no longer a strange arena for Doan Xuan Khue Minh. The female golfer born in 2003 used to compete in the SEA Games 2017 and 2019. In 2017, at the age of 14, Khue Minh became the youngest athlete of the Vietnamese sports delegation at the 29th SEA Games. 

In the qualifying round for the national golf team to attend the 31st SEA Games, Khue Minh had no opponent in the women's version.

When Nguyen Thao My turned pro, Khue Minh became the biggest hope of Vietnamese women's golf at SEA Games 31.

Pham Thi Yen Vi

Pham Thi Yen Vi has had the opportunity to practice golf properly from a young age when her mother is a famous golf coach Nguyen Thi Thu Ha. Experiencing extremely harsh training, Yen Vy has had a really respectable record of achievements.

With her achievements, Pham Thi Yen Vi is considered as a promising female golfer. In the qualifying round for the national golf team to attend the 31st SEA Games, Yen Vi won second place in the women's group (after Doan Xuan Khue Minh).

Le Chuc An

Le Chuc An is a female golfer on the Hanoi Junior golf team and a member of FLC Junior. At the age of 14, Chuc An has attended many golf tournaments and won many impressive prizes.

Unable to participate in the second qualifying round to select the national golf team to attend the 31st SEA Games, Le Chuc An was still selected by the coaching board to be in the list of the Vietnamese golf team. The 14-year-old girl has affirmed that she fully deserves her impressive performance at the professional golf tournament Lexus Challenge 2022.

Along with Le Khanh Hung, Le Chuc An is the youngest athlete of the national golf team to compete at the 31st SEA Games.

Le Thi Thanh Thuy

Le Thi Thanh Thuy is considered the surprise factor of the Vietnamese golf team at the 31st SEA Games. Thanh Thuy does not have a solid golf background like most members of the National golf team. The female golfer born in 1999 is currently working as a caddy at Dam Vac golf course (where golf is held at SEA Games 31).

Although coming to golf quite late and officially practicing golf for less than 2 years, Thanh Thuy is still very confident when competing in the qualifying round to select the national golf team to attend the 31st SEA Games. Thanh Thuy won 3rd place and was selected by the coaching board to represent Vietnam at the 31st SEA Games.
