Chef Alain Dutournier 2

Alain Dutournier is one of Paris’ most famous Michelin-starred chefs, with two prestigious restaurants located in prime locations of France’s capital. With a passion for Hanoi and Vietnamese cuisine which he knew through the dishes cooked by a Vietnamese friend’s mother, in 2015, he came to Press Club and wished to transform this place into a French fine dining in the heart of Hanoi. Alain Dutournier is known for making extremely special dishes from ordinary ingredients available in nature. With a rich understanding of the garden’s produces, farm’s cattle and poultry, seafood and wild animals, he has conveyed the flavor his home land - Southwestern France to Hanoi’s diners. Furthermore, he’s always seeking for local ingredients and spices to create new dishes with a touch of Vietnamese cuisine. During his last visit in Hanoi, he discovered that the cabbage grown in Vietnam has a better taste than it is in France and his culinary creation – cabbage mille-feuilles with prawn and pork meat won the heart of both domestic and foreign diners.

This time, the arrival of chef Alain Dutournier to Hanoi is also accompanied by another famous Vietnamese-origin French chef, Mr. Robert Vifian. As owner of a prestigious Vietnamese restaurant named Tan Dinh in Paris, Robert Vifian is known for his endless creativity in making new dishes, combining Vietnamese ingredients and French cooking style. Chef Robert Vifian will perform culinary arts with chef Alain Dutournier in the special dinner party celebrating Alain’s 40-year career at Press Club and both of them will be the “conductors” of Gout de France event which will take place in the French embassy in Hanoi.
