PGA Championship: The toughest tournament of professional golf

The PGA Championship - one of the most challenging tournaments of professional golf in the world - will take place this week, promising to bring spectacular competitions between the best golfers on the tour.

Southern Hills Country Club - The Returning after 15 years

The 104th PGA Championship will be held at Southern Hills Country Course (Champion Course) for the first time since Tiger Woods' victory there in 2007. The pitch evokes an unforgettable season. For Woods and his fans, for two things: One is his unfortunate lip out on the last hole of the round caused him to lose his first 62-stroke record in major history; the second is the dramatic showdown between him and Woody Austin.

Hosting this year's PGA Championship, Southern Hills will have a new look after being renovated by designer Gil Hanse. Southern Hills Country Course is famous for its Championship Course, which is consistently ranked among the top 100 golf courses in the world, and has hosted 16 professional championships since 1945.

The Ultimate Arena

The PGA Championship is (sometimes) considered the toughest tournament in professional golf, often having the highest “golfers’ competence rating” of the year according to world rankings. There are many criteria set to select the best “warriors” for the PGA Championship arena, including: all previous PGA champions, major champions for the last 5 years, etc. (Read more here). The PGA of America also invites other golfers who fall outside the above criteria, consisting mainly of top 100 golfers in OWGR.

Who will win the Wanamaker Trophy?

In this year’s field, Jon Rahm, Justin Thomas, Jordan Spieth, Dustin Johnson, and Rory McIlroy are expected to add PGA Championship title to their “Major Championship Resume”. Caesars Sportsbook has listed Jon Rahm as the favorite (11-1) on the latest PGA Championship 2022 odds. After the Spaniard golfer on the list are Rory McIlroy (12-1), Scottie Scheffler (12-1), Collin Morikawa (14-1), Justin Thomas (14-1), and Dustin Johnson (16-1).

Defending champion Phil Mickelson has dropped out of the PGA Championship this year amid fallout from his comments about Saudi Arabia and his links to the Saudi-funded rival golf league, the PGA of America announced Friday.

Tiger Woods, four-time PGA Championship champion is at 40-1 on the odds. Who do you think will keep the prestigious Wanamaker Trophy this season?
