Tran Thi Sinh: “Golf is a journey to discover”

If you have the chance to meet the female manager of Hoiana Shores Golf Course’s Clubhouse, you will definitely not only be impressed by her lovely smile, enthusiasm and professionalism at work, but also by her passion for golf.

How did you come to golf? What do you find most exciting about golf?

Tran Thi Sinh has been "in love" with golf since 2011

I never thought I would stick with this sport for so long. In 2010, the Central region welcomed two new golf courses opening - at that time golf was very new to us and in my memory at that time golf was just green lawns. I love to explore things, so in 2011 I applied for a part-time position as a caddy at one of two new golf courses. During that time, I began to learn about golf and found a lot of fun in the sport that was considered elite at that time.

Golf started to attract me and after graduating in 2012, I experienced myself in the position of Sales & Marketing. Different jobs, different golf courses, different designs help me open up more things and love this sport more.

The interesting thing about golf is that it is not only a healthy sport but also offers life lessons; Golf gives us a feeling of peace and relaxation. It is great to both play sports and be one with nature in a fresh space that is hard to find in other sports.

What makes you stick to a job that is considered difficult for women?

Doing a golf-related job is not as simple as other services

Doing a golf-related job is not as simple as other services. You have to really understand and feel the sophistication of this discipline to be able to bring customers the best service values. 12 years of dedication to the profession is not an easy journey, I myself have overcome the challenges of knowledge, experience, time and the rules of golf, etc. to be able to stick with it until today. Without a love and passion for golf, it is difficult to overcome and do a good job.

How has golf changed you and your life?

What I learned in golf is how to conquer, to win against myself. Golf requires self-discipline, honesty in each of your shots and respect for the sport and you. Coming to golf, I have learned to be calm, patient and always think positively. You try to play golf with a negative mentality and you will fail immediately!

Everyone has a special memory with golf, so what's yours?

Tran Thi Sinh has many opportunities to meet famous people in golf

For me, the most memorable memory was the first time I met Mr. Robert Trent Jones Jr. - the legendary golf architect, and he is also the designer of Hoiana Shores Golf Club. At that time, the golf course was still under construction, and I was so lucky to have the chance to meet and hear his golf stories.

What qualities should a “Clubhouse Manager” have? What strengths and weaknesses will Vietnamese managers have compared to foreigners, especially women?

The required qualities of a Clubhouse Manager include professional knowledge and curiosity, foresight, determination and bravery. Golf is a sport regardless of status, age, or boundaries, so I believe that the Clubhouse Manager is a foreigner or Vietnamese will not be a big problem. Strengths or weaknesses will depend on each person, and whether your experience and personality is suitable for that position or not.

For managers who are Vietnamese, the starting point will be better because no one understands the domestic golf market better than the Vietnamese themselves.

Women tend to prioritize family, so what is your order of priority between golf, work, and family?

Sinh has a very good support from her family

I have never placed anything higher than my family. I am fortunate to have a very good support from my family, giving me the opportunity to develop my career, and up to this point, I feel that everything is balanced and harmonious.

What are your future plans for work and personal life?

Currently, I am coordinating with travel agencies and associations to come up with new ideas for golf experience programs with the aim of popularizing golf. I hope that the number of Vietnamese golfers in the future will increase significantly, contributing to the strengthening of the national golf movement in general, and the golf movement of Danang - Quang Nam in particular.
