Vietnam Match Play Championship returns to national tournament system
The 2016 Vietnam Match Play and Professional Golf Championship organised from December 28 to 31 at BRG Ruby Tree Golf Resort with the participation of 130 golfers in Hai Phong has been finished successfully and remarked a returns to national series after 5 years of absence.
Intensive competitions, attractive performances with "storms of suprise" made by most excellent golfers of Vietnam during 4 days of tournment, combined with beautiful weather in one of the best golf course of Vietnam - BRG Ruby Tree Golf Resort - resulted in the success of the 2016 Vietnam Match Play and Professional Golf Championship (2016 VMC & VMC PRO) which allows it become the most anticipated events after many years in Vietnam golf community.
The tournament has been divided into 3 catagories for participants: Men, Women and Seniors. Golfers took part in qualification on December 28. Tournament organisers will then select the top seeds and make a draw based on the qualifications. The tournament gathers most outstanding names of Vietnam golf community like pro golfer Nguyen Thai Duong, young golfer Truong Chi Quan, Nguyen Thao My, Andrew Hung Pham, Do Le Gia Dat, Tran The Cuong, Le Huu Giang, Nguyen Dinh Chau,...
At the final round of amateur division for Men, young golfer Truong Chi Quan defeated Le Hung Nam with the result of 6UP (6&5) at hole 13 to become the champion of the tournament.
For Amateur division for Women, Nguyen Thao My did not give her rivals any chance to pass when she always on the top of leader board and finally won the champion at the hole 15 (4&3).
And the most anticipated of the Tournament is the final round of Professional division with the competition between pro golfer Nguyen Thai Duong & Le Huu Giang. During the 4 days, their performance is really stable. However, to the last minutes of the final round, golfer Le Huu Giang passed Nguyen Thai Duong to become the champion and recieved money prize of 60 million dongs.
Results of 2016 VMC & VMC PRO:
- Amateur Division for Men: Champion - Truong Chi Quan, 1st runner up - Le Hung Nam, 2nd Runner up - Doan Van Nam.
- Amateur Division for Women: Champion – Nguyen Thao My, 1st runner up - Vu Thi Van, 2nd Runner up - Nguyen Thi Van Anh.
- Professional Division: Champion: Le Huu Giang, 1nd Runner-up:– Nguyen Thai Duong, 2nd Runner up – Nguyen Dinh Chau.
- Senior Division: Champion - Tran Huy Quang.
