Vinpearl DIC Legends Vietnam 2023 announces up to VND 31 billion 01:56, 27/11/2023

Vinpearl DIC Legends Vietnam 2023 will be held at Vinpearl Golf Nha Trang from November 27 to December 2. The event encompasses two Pro-Am rounds and three official Alliance competition days. Aligned with the European Legends Tour system, the tournament is a collaborative effort with Viet Challenge Joint Stock Company. It features distinctive competition formats, fostering opportunities for emerging talents and amateur golfers to engage, enrich their competitive prowess, and cultivate experience and confidence for participation in high-level tournaments in the future.

Speaking at the press conference, Mr. Do Anh Duc, representative of DIC shared: “The tournament brings many opportunities for Vietnamese golfers to practice and improve their playing experience. Inspired by the legendary golfer, hopefully golfers will go further on the path to conquering golf. Besides, the tournament is also an opportunity for businessmen and strategic partners to meet, connect, develop the economy and promote the country's tourism potential.”

In particular, The Pro-Am - Vinpearl DIC Legends Vietnam 2023 tournament includes the "Championship Pro-Am" and "Invitational Pro-Am" events scheduled from November 28th to 29th. These tournaments will include the participation of 24 golf legends and 72 Vietnamese amateur athletes. The golfers will be organized into 24 teams, with each team consisting of one legend and three amateur golfers. They will engage in a Scramble format, competing as a team of four individuals without the application of Handicap over 18 holes. In the course of each round, every team member must play at least three tee shots. 

Throughout the official competition days from November 30th to December 2nd, the 60 legendary golfers and 30 amateur player will be organized into 30 teams. Specifically, the 15 amateur players with the lowest actual (gross) scores will be selected to compete for the prestigious Best Amateur prize on December 2nd. Concurrently, the assembly of golf legends will engage in spirited competition to determine the champion of the coveted Vinpearl DIC Legends Vietnam 2023 trophy.

Vinpearl DIC Legends Vietnam 2023 has announced a prize pool reaching VND 31 billion, including a cash prize value of 730,000 USD, equivalent to 18 billion VND. The top 3 winners of the tournament will receive prizes of up to 200,000 USD (equivalent to nearly 5 billion VND). In addition to the prestigious cash prizes, the tournament champion will also be awarded the coveted championship cup. Furthermore, there are 14 Hole In One (HIO) prizes: 06 prizes include VinFast VF 9 cars, and 08 prizes consist of other valuable awards, with a total value exceeding 13 billion VND.

The eventual victor will be awarded a trophy designed to resemble a traditional Vietnamese bronze drum, along with a prize package valued at up to $730,000 (equivalent to over VND 18 billion). Golf competitors stand a chance to secure coveted HIO prizes, such as six VinFast VF 9 cars distributed throughout the 5 days of the competition at holes 3 and 10, open to both professional and amateur players. Additionally, three vouchers for a one-year stay at DIC Star Vinh Phuc can be won for achieving a HIO at hole 3, totaling VND 3 billion. Two sets of PXG brand golf clubs totaling VND 500 million will be awarded to those who achieve a HIO at holes 8 and 10. Amateur winners of the Pro-Am tournament at hole 3 scoring a HIO will be rewarded with a set of golf clubs from Fourteen. Further incentives include entry into the 2024 Presidents Cup in Canada, valued at VND 200 million, for achieving a HIO on hole 8 during the Pro-Am round. Lastly, a set of clubs from Hazzys worth VND 120 million are on offer for HIO at hole 16.

Vinpearl DIC Legends Vietnam 2023 debuts Vietnam's inaugural participation in this highly-esteemed and expansive tournament series hosted by the European Legends Tour, marking a significant milestone for this Southeast Asian country. In addition to highly-proficient event management, the organizing committee has introduced an impressive variety of activities, including an champion’s cup parade across all three regions: North (in Hai Phong), Central (in Nha Trang), and South (in Ho Chi Minh City). 

Expressing pride in the development of Vietnamese golf, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Chu, Former General Secretary of the Vietnam Golf Association said: "Recently, Vietnam has made important strides. Besides, Legends Tour is organized to contribute to promoting golf tourism, contributing to the economy of Nha Trang in particular and Vietnam in general."

In organizing a professional golf tournament as part of the Legends Tour for the first time in Southeast Asia and Vietnam, Mr. Marius Camber, Advisor to the Legends Tour Board of Directors and representative of the Tournament Organizing Committee, shared: “We are very happy when Vinpearl DIC Legends Vietnam 2023 is the first tournament organized in Asia by Legends Tour. Continuing this journey, on the morning of November 27 the assembly of golf legends, led by tournament ambassador Michael Campbell and Miss Vietnam Volleyball Pham Thi Kim Hue, conducted a parade of the champion’s tropy from the iconic Tram Huong Tower, a symbol of Khanh Hoa, to the venue at Vinpearl Nha Trang.

Vinpearl Golf Nha Trang, selected as the tournament venue, is an 18-hole golf course adhering to the 71-stroke standard, enveloped in the picturesque charm of expansive blue sea and the grandeur of layered mountains. This international-standard golf course is a masterpiece, meticulously designed to preserve the inherent natural terrain on Hon Tre island to its fullest potential. Featuring undulating fairways that gracefully trace the contours of this uniquely characteristic hillside, the course is assured to deliver challenging and captivating experiences, creating indelible memories for these legends of the golfing world.
