Turkish Airlines’ New Uniforms Might Become the Most Fashionable Airline in the World

In celebration of 85 years of service and a new home base airport, Turkish Airways is launching a brand-new, high-fashion uniform for cabin crew.

The new uniform will become official when the Istanbul New Airport opens in OctoberDesigned by Milanese haute couturier Ettore Bilotta, the new uniform represents the airline’s links to both East and West; and a mixture of modernity and tradition. Ettore Bilotta was born and live in Milan that is considered as the fashionable capital of Italy and Europe.

“When I started to design for Turkish Airlines, the first thing that inspired me was Istanbul”, Bilotta said in a statement. “This city has been a melting pot for art and civilization for centuries and has a rare richness as a common heritage of many cultures”. The history of Istanbul is reflected in the uniform with nods to traditional calligraphy and mosaics. The collection includes hat, gloves, dress, bag, and accessories for cabin crew. Uniform for cockpit, flying chefs and ground services will also receive a similar revamp.

Inspired by many classic elements of Turkish design and culture, the new uniform incorporates traditional patterns found in artisanal glassware, ceramics and calligraphy with contemporary textures and details. It also combines shapes and colours found in Istanbul Bosphorus with a new “FLOW”, to symbolize the effortless and dynamic energy of Turkey’s most dynamic city.

To launch the new look, the national carrier teamed up with renowned British photographer and artist, Miles Aldridge to shoot photos of collection amidst Istanbul’s beauty places.

The new airport that may become one of the busiest hubs in the world, with an estimated capacity for 150 million passengers every year will become the new operating base of Turkish Airlines.
