VJO is the annual tournament belonged to national system of golf tournaments organized by VGA. However, this year's tournament is promised to be especially more attractive than the previous ones since this is the first time VJO has been "opened" to other Asian golfers sent to Vietnam by other countries' Golf Associations in Asian areas. It will aslo be the first time in Vietnam to have a tournament with more than 80 young golfers competing together.

Aslo in this event, VGA, in combination with the prestigious wolrd leading tournament organizer Faldo Series, will stage the first Qualifying Round for the 9th Vietnam Faldo Series 2016 to indentify 5 best young golfers of Vietnam to participate in the 11th Faldo Series Asia Grant Final played in Laguna Golf Course in Lang Co - Hue City of Vietnam in March 2017.
Eligibility
The 1st VJO 2016 is open to BOYS and GIRLS under 18 years old (born after 1/1/1998) who are amateur golfers in accordance with the Rules of Amateur Status as approved by the R&R Rules Limited. There are 5 Catagories for BOYS: A (8 and under), B (9-11), C (12-13), D (14-15), E (16-18), and 4 age group catagories for GIRLS: A (9 and under), B (10-12), C (13-15), D (16-18). Players in Catogory C, D, and E must have a valid USGA Handicap Index of not more than 28.1 or course Handicap of 30 at the time of submission of entry.
While the 9th Faldo Series Qualifying Round is only eligible to BOYS and GIRLS who are Vietnamese Citizen aged between 12-21 years old (born from 1/1/1995 to 31/12/2004) and will be conducted over the following age groups: Faldo U16 12-15), Faldo U18 (16-18), Faldo U21 (19-21) for BOYS and Faldo U16 (13-15), Faldo U21 (16-21) for GIRLS.

Format
The Tournament will be played over 3 round 27 holes for Girl under 9 and Boy under 8 and 54 holes stroke play for other catagories.
There will be a 50% cut off in each catagories after 2 rounds. The players who miss the CUT will be arranged to play in a mini competition of 18 holes with the format of daily Handicap System 36 on 24 July 2016.
In addition to the trophies for the champions, a special reward awaits for male Vietnamese golfers who will get the most outstanding achievements at the VJO 2016. That is a ticket to participate in a tournament belonged to professional golf tournament system of Asian Tour. This information was announced by Kyi Hla Han, the Chairman of the Asian Tour at a press conference in mid July this year. The prospect of the opportunity to compete with world top golfers at the Asian Tour will be the tremendous motivation for Vietnamese young golfer like Truong Chi Quan to perform the best at the VJO 2016.
