The Dàlat at 1200 Joins Asian Golf Industry Federation

The Dàlat at 1200 Country Club & Private Estate, one of the region’s most exciting new golf and residential ventures, has joined the Asian Golf Industry Federation (AGIF) as a Golf Course Facility member.

The Dalat at 1200 - Temperate weather and pine fresh air make this course a pleasure year round

The Dàlat at 1200, named for its altitude above sea level, is situated close to the Colonial French Hill Station and alpine city of Dalat. The Country Club & Private Estate is a development owned by Centurion Group, a Singapore-based real estate developer with a diverse portfolio across the Asia-Pacific region.

Located less than 20 minutes from Dalat’s Lien Khuong Airport, and set in its own amphitheatre of 850 hectares, including a 183 hectare central lake, The Dàlat at 1200 is a jewel in the heart of central Vietnam’s Lam Dong Province. The undulating and mesmerising par-73 course is a challenge for amateur and professional players alike.

Surrounded by natural forest, pine fresh mountain air is in plentiful supply with temperatures ranging between 18-25 °C year round, The Dàlat at 1200 is paradise located within easy reach of the regions metropolitan centres. Dalat is famed for fresh produce and there is an abundant supply within the estate, or from the local community for everyone’s dining pleasure.

Executive Director at The Dàlat at 1200, Mr Tang Kay Hwa, said, “With the first 18-hole Stadium Championship Course of its kind opened since November 2015, and when the clubhouse, resort residences, villas and other sporting facilities are completed, The Dàlat at 1200 is intent on setting new standards for the entire family in a truly world-class country club and private estate.”

“Bordered by three pine-forested mountain valleys, our 2,100-acre lakeside estate has a micro-climate of its own, with refreshing breezes even at the height of summer. For a golfer, this refreshing breeze can provide some interesting golfing moments!” Mr David Hill, General Manager at The Dàlat at 1200, added. “Only a 30-minute flight time from Ho Chi Minh City, and within 2 hours by air from most of Asia’s major cities, The Dàlat at 1200 is genuinely unlike any other country club in Asia.”

“As a Golf Course Facility member,” Mr Hill continued, “we look forward to being involved with developing the game alongside the Asian Golf Industry Federation.”

Designed by Kyi Hla Han, the course opened for play last year and quickly gained rave reviews, including a mention in the New York Times’ ‘52 Places to Go in 2016’ where Dalat was named in the top-30.

At the 2016 Vietnam Property Awards, The Dàlat at 1200 Country Club & Private Estate swept five awards, firmly placing the private estate in the minds of investors around the world.

In March 2016, the championship course and private estate gained international exposure when it staged a Korean Ladies Professional Golf Association (KLPGA) tournament with prize money of US$420,000. The tournament was televised live across five countries with delayed telecast in eight other countries.

The tournament assisted in promoting Vietnam as a golf destination while providing information about Vietnam’s Central Highlands region, Lam Dong Province and Dalat itself. Working closely with all stake holders including Lam Dong Tourism, Vietnam Golf Association and Vietnam Tourism Board, this event helped introduce Dalat and Lam Dong to a new audience, making visitor numbers in 2016 significantly increased over 2015.

Since the AGIF launched its Golf Course Facility membership category, dozens of the region’s most prominent clubs have signed up as members.

Eric Lynge, AGIF’s Chief Executive Officer, said, “Golf facilities represent an enormous part of our industry and as we continue to run an increasing number of educational events for course superintendents and general managers, and offer more benefits to clubs, we are confident that this category of membership will grow.”

The AGIF has Golf Course Facility members in 11 countries or regions, including Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.
