Stefano Maccagno - A Life In Hospitality, A Legacy Defined By People

His career has taken him across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, shaping a global perspective that continues to define his leadership today.... each destination shaping his worldview, refining his leadership, and deepening his understanding of people. But it is in Vietnam where his story finds a defining chapter.
Since 2018, Stefano has been at the helm of Four Points by Sheraton Danang, leading the property from its very first day. As its founding General Manager, he has not only established operational excellence but also built something far more enduring: a culture.
With over 35 years in hospitality, Stefano’s journey did not begin in a boardroom, but in the heart of the kitchen. As a young chef driven by a deep love for cooking, he first understood hospitality through flavors, discipline, and craft. Yet curiosity soon became his compass. What began as a passion for cuisine evolved into a lifelong pursuit of learning, one that would see him rise steadily through the ranks to become a General Manager of remarkable depth and vision.
In a city defined by rapid change, he stands as one of the longest serving General Managers in Danang- an enduring presence marked by consistency, trust, and quiet resilience.
At the core of Stefano’s philosophy lies a simple yet powerful belief: “Be kind to people.” To him, every associate carries a story, a motivation, a purpose. By nurturing his team with empathy and respect, he creates an environment where individuals feel valued and in turn, inspired to deliver genuine care to every guest. This people-first approach has become the heartbeat of his leadership, transforming workplace culture into a living, breathing experience.

Beyond the hotel, Stefano plays an active role within the Marriott Business Council, where he leads sustainability initiatives with the same passion and integrity that define his career. His vision extends beyond immediate success, focusing instead on long-term impact for the industry, the community, and the environment.
To Stefano, Vietnam is not only a place of extraordinary momentum, but a landscape of untapped possibility. He has witnessed its rapid transformation over the past decade, particularly in Da Nang- a city he believes holds immense untapped potential. Yet what resonates most deeply with him is not just the growth, but the people: their warmth, resilience, and spirit.
In Stefano Maccagno, we see more than a General Manager. We see a storyteller of cultures, a cultivator of people, and a leader whose legacy is defined not only by where he has been but by the lasting imprint he leaves on the people and cultures he so thoughtfully shapes.
