Vietnam – A favorite golf destination

Mark Siegel talk about his Golf Asian’s 10,000th golf visitor to Vietnam.

How has golf tourism in Asia recovered from covid?

Golf tourism in Asia has shown resilience and adaptability after the impact of COVID-19. As the pandemic was managed and controlled in various countries, golf tourism saw a gradual return, first with domestic travelers, then regional and then long-haul travelers. Golfasian rolled out some very attractive golf packages to encourage golf tourism in the region. We are seeing bounce back to near pre-covid levels, demand for golf travel in Asia is extremely high.

Can you describe the current picture of golf tourism to Asia?

Thailand and Vietnam are among the top golfing destinations in Asia. Thailand's renowned golf courses and hospitality have always attracted enthusiasts, and Vietnam's rapidly growing golf infrastructure and scenic courses have made it an emerging hotspot.

What has changed in golf tourism behavior compared to pre-covid?

The booking lead-time is now shorter than it used to be. Before golfers would book many months or even years in advance. Now this has been reduced to weeks or days

What does the number of 10,000 visitors say about Vietnam's golf destination?

The number of 10,000 golfers highlights Vietnam's emerging prominence as a preferred golf destination. It showcases the country's efforts in developing world-class golf courses and club facilities. 10,000 golfers indicate strong potential growth and reflects the success of our marketing and Vietnam's infrastructural competencies.

What is the secret to help the company stand up during the crisis and keep growing?

Golfasian's flexible booking and cancellation policies, aggressive marketing strategies targeting domestic & regional travelers, partnerships with golf courses for exclusive packages, and an emphasis on health and safety have been crucial. Moreover, our proactive approach in communicating with customers and understanding their concerns has helped in retaining trust.

What is your prediction about the future of Asian golf tourism

The future for Asian golf tourism looks very bright. Countries like Thailand will continue to be major attractions given its established reputation. However, Vietnam will emerge as the new favorite due to its investments in golf infrastructure and unique cultural experiences. Factors such as continuous improvement in golf facilities, additional flight routes, political stability, and the blending of golf tourism with cultural exploration make Vietnam attractive for golf travelers from around the world. We have also seen increasing interest for the Philippines.
