IAGTO’s 2025 Conventions Fully Booked as Record-Breaking Asia Golf Tourism Event Concludes in Vietnam

The International Association of Golf Tour Operators (IAGTO) has announced that all three of its 2025 global golf tourism conventions are now fully booked, following the conclusion of the most successful Asia Golf Tourism Convention (AGTC) to date in Danang, Vietnam.

The 11th edition of AGTC, held in Danang, welcomed record-breaking 450 delegates, over 100 more than any previous year. The event brought together 160 golf tourism suppliers and 162 golf tour operators from 33 countries, resulting in more than 4,500 pre-scheduled meetings. One-third of all meetings were held between international tour operators and Vietnamese suppliers, highlighting Vietnam's rising prominence in the golf tourism sector.

Despite reaching full exhibitor capacity, IAGTO is continuing to register qualified golf tour operator buyers for the two remaining events of the year: the 3rd IAGTO European Convention (IEC) in Gran Canaria next month and the 16th North America Golf Tourism Convention (NAC) in Birmingham, Alabama this June. Due to strong demand, capacity has been increased for hosted buyers at both events.

Peter Walton, Chief Executive of IAGTO, stated: “We had to turn away golf tourism suppliers in the final weeks leading up to AGTC. IEC has been fully booked since January, and we’ve just closed sales for NAC. Our commitment to keeping these conventions affordable, productive, and enjoyable has fueled their popularity worldwide.”

AGTC 2025 also featured four pre-convention familiarization trips for international tour operators in Danang and nearby Hoi An, as well as the AGTC Golf Tournament, which saw 200 tour operators and suppliers compete on the region’s premier golf courses, including the Legend Danang Nicklaus Course and Hoiana Shores Golf Club.

Reflecting on the region’s growth since AGTC was first held in Danang in 2017, Walton added: “At that time, there were just four courses within an hour of the city. Today, there are seven. Our expectation is that AGTC this year will create at least 5,000 additional bookings, generating over US $8 million in incremental revenue.”

Speaking at the AGTC press conference, Mr. Tan Van Vuong, Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Tourism, said: “Developing golf tourism and leveraging golf tournaments in major international events is a key pillar in Danang’s high-quality tourism development strategy. Hosting AGTC 2025 further strengthens Danang’s position on the global golf tourism map.”
