Excellent Golf Club Ise Ootori Course: Masterpiece of Golf in the “Land of the Rising Sun”

Considered as one of the most impressive golf courses in Japan, Excellent Golf Club Ise Ootori Course is like a picture of beautiful, poetic nature, with impressive and challenging golf holes…

American style - Japanese quality

Located in Tsu City, Mie Prefecture, Japan, the Ise Otori Golf Course at Excellent Resort has an open and friendly American-style design. Under the talented hands of Kobayashi, along with the meticulous and professional working style typical of Japanese golf course owners, Ise Ootori Golf Course is always in the best condition, with fresh smooth greens thanks to regular maintenance, along with wide fairways, well-kept and well-maintained bunkers and lakes, ensuring to bring the ultimate golfing experience.

Natural Hilly Terrain

Excellent Golf Club Ise Ootori Course became famous when it was chosen as the venue for the match between Tiger Woods and Hideki Matsuyama. The 18-hole golf course opened in 1998, has 4 tees and is designed on natural hilly terrain with different slopes, providing many challenges for players. Golfers start their round on the #1 par 4 hole with a tee shot uphill towards the green. It's a good idea to carry a spare, especially on the second hit on the green, as it's possible that your first "hard" uphill approach won't go as planned.

Impressive Lakes

When you arrive at the Excellent Golf Club Ise Ootori Course, you will be overwhelmed by a large lake of 87,000 square meters located in front of the clubhouse. In addition to this central lake, there are two other lakes located between five of the course's 18 holes. The water trap that is considered the signature challenge of Ise Ootori is a large lake at hole #9. It's very difficult to hit the ball long on this hole because the back tee is 444 yards long and this is a par-4 hole.

In addition, the green of the hole is not easy for players to reach because it is located on a floating "island". Hole 9 (par-4) is considered a unique highlight of the course, giving the course landscape an impressive and attractive scenery.

Bunker - Golfer's "Nemesis"

The bunkers on Ise Ootori are designed to maximize their "protective" effect during the round. A good example is hole #11 par 4 - an 'S' shaped hole with a bunker on the fairway to the right and a bunker guarding the left green. You should also be aware that anything behind the green is considered out of bounds, so be careful not to hit too hard. Another example of an effective water hazard at Ise Ootori is on hole #14 par 3. In addition to the water hazard located in front of the green, there is a protective bunker in front of the putting green. So to avoid a dangerous putt, accuracy is key.
