Li tops McIlroy to win Dubai Desert Classic

Haotong recorded 23-under-par 265 after shot 69 at the final round to win by one shot over McIlroy, who also shot a 69.

The 22-year-old star of China made a 10-foot birdie putt on the 18 hole after McIlroy had ramped up the pressure by reaching the par-5 18th hole in two shots.

“This is incredible and gives me so much confidence,” said Li. “Especially after I missed the cut last week. I just want more of this in the future. It was incredible to play with Rory and learn so much from him.” And to come out on top, presumably.
