SEA Games 31: Vietnam confronts Singapore and Malaysia in the Men's/Women's team contest 08:30, 15/05/2022

After the final day of the men's individual competition, there was only one change in the seed rankings of the team contest, that is, Indonesia rose to 3rd place and pushed Vietnam down to 4th. This result causes Vietnam to face a formidable opponent, Singapore (5) in the quarterfinals, while Indonesia will have to face the Philippines (6).

Meanwhile, with the superior performance of the Thai athletes (1), they will only confront Cambodia (8), and Malaysia (2) will compete with Myanmar (7).

Although Vietnam has not been able to win a medal in the individual event, we can still hope  the men's team will win a medal in the team contest. The Match Play format still brings a lot of surprises in golf, and all of Vietnamese male golfers including Anh Minh, Le Khanh Hung or Nguyen Dang Minh and Quang Tri can compete well.

About the female group, there hasn't been any change in the seed rankings. Thailand is at the top and they will be given a chance to go straight to the semi-finals. Meanwhile, Singapore (2) will face Myanmar (7), Vietnam (6) will compete with Malaysia (3), and the Philippines (4) will face Indonesia (5) in the quarterfinals.

Team matches will begin tee-off at 08:00 for men and 08:05 for women. Detailed information will be announced at 06:00 tomorrow morning, after that time, teams will not be able to make substitutions. 

The team contest will take place in a Match Play format with 3 Singles matches in the men's group, and 2 matches in the women's group. Each win will get 1 point, draw will get 0.5 point and lose will get 0 point. In the men's group, the team that reaches 2 points first will win and advance to the next round. In the women's group, it is 1.5 points. If there is a tie, each team will choose 1 golfer to participate in the playoff round with the hole selected by the organizers.
