True Romance of Saigon Saigon Bar

April 28, 2017

Located on the rooftop of the five-star Caravelle Hotel, its panoramic views of Saigon’s skyline make Saigon Saigon Bar a spectacular place to watch sunsets wash over the city.

This iconic bar has been welcoming patrons since 1959. Several generations of visiting international politicians, celebrities, authors and war correspondents have helped make it a legend. The famous ‘roof top garden bar’ became an unofficial headquarters for correspondents and generals during the 1960s and early 70s.

Today, it is still a great place to watch the sun go down over the lights of the city and relax with friends. The original bar still stands, antique fans still whirl languidly from the raked ceiling, cocktails are still carefree on the garden terrace. The views overlooking Lam Son Square and the heart of the city offer a look into the hustle and bustle of Saigon.

During daylight hours, try the tasty luncheon menu of traditional pub fare (including the best burger in town) and local flavours with a relaxed breeze coming through the terrace, background news on TV channels, and 80s and 90s music to reminisce to.
