Hong Kong Golf & Tennis launches Golden Bear Golf Passport

31 July 2017, Hong Kong — Hong Kong Golf & Tennis Academy (HKGTA) in Sai Kung is excited to introduce the six-month Golden Bear Golf Passport. Aimed at passionate golfers seeking to better their game the scheme provides access to world-class Nicklaus Academy instruction as well as its state-of-the-art practice facilities and hitting stations. The launch of this programme furthers HKGTA’s mission to promote sports in Hong Kong and develop a greater appreciation for golf in the city.

HKGTA is home to the Jack Nicklaus Academy of Golf in Hong Kong, where Certified Nicklaus Academy instructors provide a personalised approach to golf instruction across levels addressing all aspects of the game from the rules and etiquette to mental preparation and the development of motor skills.

Seasoned and amateur golfers alike are encouraged to take advantage of the outstanding opportunity which not only provides access to exclusive golf facilities at HKGTA but also the benefits of world-class Nicklaus Academy instruction. The combination helps participants become better players, shoot lower scores, and practise at one of the finest training centres in Hong Kong.

The state-of-the-art facilities at HKGTA feature three exclusive Jack Nicklaus Coaching Studios, powered by video analysis software and other technologies that enable coaches and students to review performance in great detail. Pressure/balance plates, professional putt training equipment and more, provide extensive opportunities to perfect techniques and are the most sophisticated of their kind in Hong Kong.

There are three levels for Passport holders, each with varied number of hours for instruction and practice time to fit the individual needs of the student. The Golden Bear Golf Passport is available starting from HK$26,999 for a six-month period access to the Nicklaus Academy facility from Monday to Friday between 7:30am and 10pm. The range and practice areas are lit for night play, so students can enjoy the game even after work.

  • GOLDEN BEAR GOLD GOLF PASSPORT includes two-hour golf services (private instruction and/or club fitting) and eight hours of driving range use with unlimited NICKLAUS balls and automatic ball feeders per month, use of the 6-hole short game, and four hours of complimentary valet parking per visit.
  • GOLDEN BEAR PLATINUM GOLF PASSPORT includes four-hour of golf services (private instruction and/or club fitting) and 16 hours of driving range use with unlimited NICKLAUS balls and automatic ball feeders per month, use of the 6-hole short game, and four hours of complimentary valet parking per visit.
  • GOLDEN BEAR DIAMOND GOLF PASSPORT includes six-hour of golf services (private instruction and/or club fitting) and 24 hours of driving range use with unlimited NICKLAUS balls and automatic ball feeders per month, use of the 6-hole short game, and four hours of complimentary valet parking per visit.

Applicants need not be existing patrons of HKGTA and each passport holder can bring a maximum of three guests to enjoy practice hours together. A six-hole short game is available at certain time slots, subject to availability at additional supplement per person.

Profiles

Every professional instructor from the Jack Nicklaus Academy at HKGTA has been hand-selected and has completed full training to be certified in the proven Nicklaus Academy philosophy and teaching methods.

Billy Martin, Director: Billy has been a member of the PGA of America since 1991 and studied under Jack Nicklaus, Jack Grout, Jim Flick and Gardner Dickinson. With more than 30 years of professional coaching experience, Billy has developed many high performance players on five different professional tours.

Shay Robert Smart, Lead Instructor: Shay Smart has been a Class A professional at the PGA of America since 2000 and has coached Kitty Tam and Michelle Cheung of the Hong Kong National Junior team as well as Wen Ya MA of the China Guangzhou Junior Team. Shay teaches in both English and Mandarin.

Mareli Joubert, Staff Instructor:  A native of South Africa, Mareli is an outstanding golfer and was a multi-sport competitor while studying at the University of Pretoria. Her background includes sports and exercise science, biomechanics, sports philosophy and nutrition, and coaching children in golf.
